Private jet charter and flights to Vail

Nestled in the foothills of the Gore Valley in the White River National Forest, Vail was built from scratch in the 1960s as Colorado’s answer to a quaint Swiss skiing village. Now North America’s second-biggest ski area, over the decades it’s grown into one of the world’s greatest and glitziest ski destinations, where miles of powdery slopes and a glamorous après-ski scene attract wealthy jetsetters from around the globe. It’s easy to see why Vail is lauded as a skiers’ paradise – perched high in the Colorado Rockies, it boasts 5,200 acres of prime skiing ground, with almost 200 powder-filled trails. The area is divided into three distinct sections served by a network of high-speed chair-lifts: the wide, wooded Front Side; the legendary wide-open Back Bowls; and the densely wooded Blue Sky Basin. There’s a great mix of groomed pistes and ungroomed terrain, with all levels of skier well catered for. Additional snowy adventures include dog sledding, snow-mobiling and snow-shoeing through the pristine winter wonderland.

Winter skiing may be Vail’s main draw, but the resort is actually a year-round playground – especially following the 2016 launch of the Epic Discovery mountain experience, where thrill-seekers can get their kicks on zip-lines, rollercoasters, adventure courses, tubing hills and even a bungee trampoline during the warmer months. Outdoor adventurers can further explore the incredible alpine scenery with rock-climbing, fishing, river-rafting and endless hiking and biking trails.

Once overshadowed by its swanky cousin Aspen, Vail now holds its own as a premium skiing and snowboarding resort. The spectacular mountain town is split into three sophisticated pedestrian base areas full of upmarket shops, restaurants and bars. Glamorous Vail Village is the unofficial downtown with its heated cobblestone streets, luxury hotels and world-class dining; while Lionshead is an energetic Austrian-inspired hub and smaller, quieter Golden Peak is the quickest jumping-off point to the Blue Sky Basin and boasts an excellent ski school.

In addition to the endless outdoor pursuits, Vail offers a packed events calendar for visitors to enjoy. Film festivals, food and wine celebrations, world-renowned musicians, orchestras and ballets are hosted here throughout the year, either in the impressive amphitheatre or slope-side depending on the weather. Snowboarding fans should visit in February for America’s largest snowboarding competition, the Burton US Open.
